Thankfully, seems to be dry inside and still works. Good to see they’re at least sealed well enough to be water resistant.

I washed my headphones the other day. Work just as terribly as they did before they went through the wash.

Don’t forget to follow up with a good sealant, or wax!

I’m actually shocked out how well keys take washing and drying. I’m a little ashamed to admit that I gave my old Toyota keys the full cycle twice, and they still work perfectly.

I remember when you could wash your keys and they’d come out the same chunk of metal they were before.

All three of the cars I’ve owned have had remotes.

I’ve washed several sets of keys, and I can say they have become increasingly more resistant to damage over time. the 96 jeep’s keys were straight dead after a wash, ‘05 rav4 keys needed drying but then worked fine. the 2016 CRV keys were happy right out of the machine!!!
I gotta stop washing the keys... but lets consider this valuable consumer research!

When I lived in corpus, the only way to get to the garage with my M3 in it was with a remote. I left it in my pocket when I did my laundry once. I open my machine and think, why is there a red light staring at me. Oh fuck that’s my remote. I pull it out and take out the batteries. It’s about 8:30 PM on my last day off and I have to be at the yard at 02:00 AM the next morning. So I run to target to get batteries, because I need to make sure it still works. It does. Leave the batteries out and let it dry out for 6 days, comes back and works fine. Also, interestingly it used the same exact batteries as my M3 remote.

Wait, is the only way into an out of the garage the electric door? Did it not have a side door or something you could enter through and then release the door from the motor?

It was a stand alone building, and the only way in was through the garage. This is what they looked like at my complex in San Antonio.
Here’s what a close up of my garage looked like in Corpus, Shitty pic taken the day I got the car.

the only solution is to not do laundry
